IMMS FRANCE

The International Military Music Society was created in the United Kingdom after the Second World War when fans of military music and professional musicians came together.

The Society’s aims are to track its development and to provide information on this sector for the purpose of promoting worldwide interest in all aspects of teaching not only military music but music in general, orchestras, marching bands, brass and symphonic bands, wind bands, brass bands, percussion and bagpipe ensembles, choirs and all related disciplines.

David Minois has been head of the French branch since 2012.

FLAMME DU SOLDAT INCONNU - FLAMME DE LA NATION

The Flame of Remembrance and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier today symbolize all those who died on the battlefield so that we may live in freedom. The Flame has also become a symbol of hope for the future and faith in the destiny of France.

On 8 February 2017, Buffet Crampon was invited to the Arc de Triomphe where its president, Jérôme Perrod, had the honour of commemorating the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

ITEMM

ITEMM was founded as a result of an initiative of the European Parliament in 1988, in which the creation of a “European centre of instrument manufacture” was called for. Inaugurated in 1994, the European Technology Institute for Music Trades is the only structure of its kind in the world. A genuine resource centre for music trades, the Institute offers a full range of courses, promotes and develops the sector and supports businesses.

CSFI

The Chambre Syndicale has been a point of exchange for businesses and artisans who manufacture, distribute and export musical instruments and their accessories since 1890.

The main missions of the Chambre Syndicale for the Manufacturing of Instruments are the following:
– To defend the interests of its members and, on a wider level, to protect instrument manufacturing trades
– To expand the practice of musical instruments for all
– To promote French manufacturing abroad
– To provide overall communication for the whole of the profession

LIAMFI

The LIAMFI (Acoustics-Music-Instrument Making Interface Laboratory), developed by Buffet Crampon and the CNRS-Laboratoire de Mécanique et d’Acoustique (CNRS mechanical and acoustic laboratory) are committed to establishing a long term synergy for acoustic wind instruments as well as digital instruments.

The scientific issues studied are related to the design of new instruments and the assessment not only of their overall sound quality by using experimental tools, but also of their subjective quality by calling on the judgement of a musician or listener.
